Green Business is 2009?

2009 will be a year unlike any other most of us have ever seen.  For small business owners, we all have to rethink our strategies and be as savvy and wise to keep afloat.  It's not an impossible task, but anyone telling you that their raking in the dough is either in denial - or simply not being truthful.  Ours is not a 'work in your pajamas' business.  True, most of us work from our homes - but if that's all you do, you're missing out on a lot of opportunities out there.

After all the merriment of the holidays, it is an excellent time to think about the good, the bad and the uncertainties of 2008.  It is also time to plant the seeds for new business - but how?

The Logo24/7 Forums - Ad Packages

Suppliers in the Promotional Product industry may now purchase advertising packages for The Logo24/7 Forums.  The Logo24/7 Forums are officially launching in January 2009 at the PPAI Convention in Las Vegas, NV.

Since it's initial and limited beta introduction, the Forums already include close to 200 quality members - most by referral and special invitation only.  Special ad packages are available by emailing Forum Management at info(at)logo247(dot)com.

Because this is still in beta format, ad package information will not be announced to the public yet. This is the best time to market your services to Distributor members.

The Logo24/7 Forums will be an education and information-centered online community forum. Special programs are in the works and you'll be privy to all the upcoming plans by becoming a member. All segments of the industry and all service providers are welcomed and encouraged to have a voice. The mission of Forum management is one of centralized learning and fairness to all members and participants.

LOGO 24/7 is open to everyone in the promotional products industry (Including sales professionals and support staff). We want to be sure to include these other groups in education.

The Logo24/7 Forums is tickled pink (okay, orange, green and blue) to have a shadow but it's highly unlikely our efforts can be duplicated.  Behind the name is a team of hard working dedicated professionals from all segments of the industry AND our growing membership currently comprised of individual contributors and some of  Promo's BEST.

We didn't invent this stuff - but we sure want to make it better!  This is US!

Today - on the Logo24/7 Forums

Many of the members of The Logo24/7 Forums are busy preparing for their Thanksgiving feast and festivities with friends and family. 

On the forum today, there's a discussion on how to prepare the holiday bird which is making me really hungry.  Smokin' a turkey, grilling a turkey, preparing the brine.  Yum!  Since we're from different parts of the country, there will be many ways our tables will be made festive - and we'll be sharing our stories after we've all declared an emergency Stop Eating on Sunday.  Yes, we're ready to EAT!

I'm so pleased with how we're coming along. It's nice to see new members feel right at home.  The ambiance in the forum is warm and welcoming.  Members are imparting knowledge, tips and recommendations - on a WIDE variety of topics to help members in their businesses - and their kitchens. 

It's feeling like a community.

This is different.  This is good.

Growth - But Surely

A few days ago when I began this blog we had about 50-something members, not quite 60.  The goal of the blog was to give you, our readers, a feel for the personality of the online community  we were building at The Logo24/7 Forums.  It's been almost a week now and we are thrilled to let you in on our progress. Here's a little bit of the behind the scenes (don't tell the Forum Admin I'm letting you in on some inside information!)

• ASI - Advertising Specialty Institute  somehow got wind of our existence!  There was a short  blurb about our forum and our goal.
• We are up to 123 members !  WOW!  This is after a whole week (okay, 5 days) and with no mass email blast!  And, better yet, we are fortunate to have attracted some of the industry's TOP educators who have already begun to post material (more on them soon!)
• Forum "netiquette"  (net etiquette.. you get?) has been tremendous!  It's been fairly quiet in the Moderator forum - so much so that one  Forum Adviser, Jim K. has already had Thanksgiving breakfast with his staff today and left us  moderators to fend for ourselves. But just for one day.
• We have our first foreign member - from Australia!  We are so a GLOBAL community now. We sure aimed HIGH and now we're aiming (world)WIDE! (we'll introduce him in a future article). Creativity and ideas have no boundaries!
• Forum Administrator, Scott Johnson of TLN has a surprise for active members!  You don't want to miss that!!  I wonder if I'll get extra points for blogging.. (kidding!)

So - this is where we are 5 days into our existence.  So much useful information has already been shared and it's refreshing to see new members chime in and reach out. Thanks, everyone!  You make it fun!

You know, when we thought about this - we just wanted to reach out, help each other and learn from the industry's finest.  And we wanted to make it easy - online and accessible, no  travel, when you want it, make it central - and add a splash of fun people.

Our goal is not to have the most members. It is not to have the most posts.  While numbers will find it's way into being milestones, we will measure our success one fulfilled order at a time, one 'difficult search solved by another member's assistance' at a time. One day in the future we will look back to see how far we've gone.

Raising The Bar

A few months ago  I was fortunate enough to be part of a group of high achieving individuals - members of the Promotional Product industry - who dreamed up a lofty concept.  As a team assembled, we discussed how we, as professionals, could combine the years of service we had under our cumulative belts - and raise the bar of EDUCATION in our industry.  We wanted to take it up a notch.   I mean like a BIG notch - a NEW direction and in many OTHER ways. It wasn't for the faint of heart, but it was for the very determined. We would form the foundation of a new "teach and learn " medium and we would build from the ground up.  For a very competitive industry, these group of professionals believed they  had much to learn from others, but just as importantly, much to teach. Most of them had over 10 years of steadfast experience in the industry.  A few have been in business for over 20 years. And everyone had formed relationships with the best and brightest every which way you could think of.  Suppliers were eager to explain their craft.  Service providers wanted to explain their added value.  Distributors were eager to learn and mentor. And so the bar was set - very high - and we set out to build.

We have not launched our forum yet, so in part I am here to chronicle where we have come from and where we want to go. Who we want to help and who we are learning from.

We reach out to all members of the Advertising Specialty industry. You will now have the FIRST virtual learning center. Direct from the BEST creative distributors, the HIGHEST qualified suppliers and the BRIGHTEST service providers in the entire Promotional Product Industry.  Yes, we will have participation and input from the various associations we all are members of. With who we are, who and what we know, we will combine ALL to impart the most current information - via technology, the internet, social media networking, the Web 2.0 - and more as it happens.

We are the Logo Forum team - and we just raised the bar.  Perhaps we've just opened some doors for you.
